Having had problems with grinding and clenching my teeth during the night for many years, which resulted in several crowns and fillings needing repair, I went once again, to see my dentist Kailesh Soneji with a troublesome and sensitive tooth. Following a thorough check-up and no visible problems with the offending tooth, we once again discussed the option of a hard night splint, which we had done on a number of previous occasions. I always felt a bit reluctant to go down this route, not just because of the cost, but how the thought of it made me feel. However, this time the decision was made and the splint treatment began. The first few nights of wearing the device were a bit strange, but literally within the first week or two it became routine and now some 4 months later I am totally used to the splint, I don't even think about it anymore. My toothache has gone completely and I have no sensitivity to hot and cold as I had previously. I have experienced no headaches or other side effects using the splint, in fact my whole jaw seems better and feels like it sat in a more natural and comfortable position throughout the day and , importantly, I don't wake up with the feeling that my jaw has been clamped tight shut for 6 hours! I would therefore , thoroughly recommend this treatment to anyone who has suffered with the effects of grinding and clenching.
