Students using loans to splash out on plastic surgery

A survey of university students reveals many are using their student loans to pay for cosmetic treatments.

According to the latest research, they are spending more on the luxuries in life than their education and splashing out on night outs clubbing and drinking as well as cosmetic procedures.

The poll – carried out by university website, The Student Room – reveals that more than a quarter (26%) of students lose their loan to nights out and 30% to shopping.

Other indulgences include gambling, tattoos, and strip clubs.

A whopping 16% spent their loan within the first month of receiving it.

According to reports, an increasing number of younger adults are seeking aesthetic treatments.

With the likes of social media celeb, Kylie Jenner and Geordie Shore star, Charlotte Crosby, inspiring teens and those in their 20s to consider treatments, the numbers only look set to rise.

In 2015, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons revealed that there were 64,470 cosmetic surgical procedures performed on people ages 13–1, with nose jobs the most popular procedure.

While rhinoplasty topped the list of treatments, other cosmetic procedures included chin augmentationbreast asymmetry reduction and laser treatment.

Also, more than 161,000 minimally invasive procedures took place. These included chemical peelslaser hair removal and collagen injections.

Here in the UK, a poll found that 32% of all women are considering cosmetic surgery – but for those under 35, it’s 45% – with the most desired aesthetic procedure breast augmentation.

In 2016 , a survey conducted by Girlguiding, showed that the body confidence of British girls and young women (aged 7-21) in the UK had dropped tremendously – from 73% in 2001 to 61% in 2016.
