Macrolane Injectable Body Contouring

Macrolane is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel designed to enhance, contour and augment areas of the body.

What is Macrolane?

Macrolane, often referred to as a ‘boob jab’, is an injectable gel that contains hyaluronic acid. This adds volume to the breast. However, the effect is not permanent and results only last 12 to 18 months.

What’s involved in Macrolane treatment?

Macrolane injections are given under local anaesthetic and the procedure lasts between 45 and 90 minutes. First, a tiny incision is made and a cannula is inserted, then the Macrolane gel is injected through the cannula. This shouldn’t be painful but may feel uncomfortable. After the injection, the practitioner may need to massage the Macrolane gel firmly into the correct position. You can leave the clinic as soon as the procedure is finished.

How long will it take me to recover from Macrolane treatment?

There may be a little bruising and swelling for a few days, but you should be able to return to work and normal activities after an hour or two, and resume exercise after a week. You will need to be very gentle with your breasts for around two weeks and during this time the treated areas will feel hard. However they will soon soften and feel like normal tissue.

What are the risks of Macrolane treatment?

Macrolane injections carry a small risk of bleeding and infection, and sometimes the gel can move, leading to asymmetry and a lumpy breast.

How much will Macrolane treatment cost?

Prices for Macrolane treatment range from £1200 to £3000 for each injection, but some clinics may offer a larger injection which may be enough for both breasts, costing around £3500. Bear in mind though that if you want to keep the look, you will need to pay these prices every year or so.
