There was a massive global hike in boob jobs last year – and it’s the procedure that gets the highest patient satisfaction, according to new statistics.
A survey reveals that more and more females are eager to enhance their breasts with the number of breast augmentation surgeries increasing by 10.4% from the previous year.
In particular, women in the United States are opting for this popular procedure, with over 309,000 surgeries in 2015.
Susumu Takayanagi, president of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, said: ‘We see that surgeries differ according to cultural preferences, and our reports show the United States leading the world in the number of breast augmentation procedures.’
He believes that women looking into this procedure have an advantage in knowing that breast augmentation techniques have been refined and perfected over the years.
In addition to the trend of increased surgeries, breast augmentation also has among the highest patient satisfaction ratings for plastic surgery.
Many women reportedly experience an immediate improvement in their self-esteem, and discover a greater self-confidence.
With the advancements in breast reconstruction following mastectomies, many patients are reporting happy results.
ISAPS places patient safety and satisfaction as its highest priority and will discuss the popularity of breast augmentation in depth at the Congress this October.
The statistics also show that breast augmentation continues to be the most common surgical procedure among women with a 10.4% increase from 2014 while eyelid surgery is prevalent among men.
Women had more than 18 million surgical and non-surgical procedures performed globally, 85.6% of the total.
The top five surgical procedures performed on women in 2015 were: breast augmentation, liposuction, eyelid surgery, abdominoplasty and rhinoplasty.
Men had more than three million surgical and non-surgical procedures, 14.4% of the total. The top five surgical procedures performed on men were: eyelid surgery, liposuction, gynecomastia surgery, rhinoplasty, fat grafting and ear surgery.
