When it comes to cosmetic surgery, botched jobs are a risk if you fail to do your homework — and even celebs have been known to fall victim to poor medical practice.
Here at comparethetreatment.com, our aim is to make your journey to cosmetic treatments as safe as possible, which is why we connect each and every patient with the appropriate clinician by sharing informative and insightful blogs on which they’ve collaborated.
With statistics showing that more and more of us are embracing age-defying cosmetic treatments to turn back the clock, we invited cosmetic surgeon Marc Pacifico to list the five most important things you need to know before you forge ahead with those tweaks, enhancements and makeovers.
Be careful who does your treatment. Check credentials and so on. Do your research and don’t be shy about asking about experience and seeking reviews and feedback. You can find a list of cosmetic procedures and relevant aesthetic practitioners in your area here Ask lots of questions. Never be shy about having a list — I like patients to go through lists as it reassures me they’ve thought about the procedure and I feel confident I have answered all their questions and concerns
Plastic surgeons do not judge you. It is best to be honest, even if it feels a bit uncomfortable, or it is something you wouldn’t tell anyone else. If you don’t, then you may not get the outcome of a procedure you hoped for It’s all about you. Whilst undergoing a cosmetic treatment is not a need, the fundamental common thread that links most plastic surgery patients is a desire to boost self-esteem and confidence You won’t always see results immediately. Most procedures take at least three months for swelling to settle down. One year after surgery is considered the gold standard time to see the final result for most procedures by plastic surgeons. Beware of anyone showing results only a few days or weeks after surgery. They might not look like that in a few months. Be warned. You may be turned away. Aesthetic surgeons are highly skilled health professionals who should act in a way that is ethically appropriate for each and every individual patient. If they believe you are pursing unnecessary cosmetic surgery, they will tell you so. If there are alternatives, they will highlight these and also explain why the treatment is not appropriate to you.Find a cosmetic surgeon today > Ask Dr Marc Pacifico a question >
