Dental Bridges
  • I have a missing tooth
  • I have a gap in my teeth when I smile
  • I hate the way my teeth look

Dental bridges are designed to ‘bridge’ the gap between teeth, when one or more are missing. A bridge is made up of crowns that sit either side of the gap and a false tooth is added into the gap.

Dental bridges are designed to ‘bridge’ the gap between teeth, when one or more are missing. A bridge is made up of crowns that sit either side of the gap and a false tooth is added into the gap.

A bridge is recommended if you have one more missing teeth. When you have missing teeth the remaining teeth may shift or move into the empty space resulting in more dental problems such as an overbite, gum disease and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.

The false tooth is fused in between two crowns which act as anchors, by attaching to the teeth on each side of the false tooth and therefore bridging them together. The false tooth can be made from porcelain or gold but they are made to look natural in appearance. Dental Bridges can also help with overbite issues and speech problems which can sometime occur when you have missing teeth.

Bridges are designed to restore your smile, enable you to eat and chew properly, maintain the shape of your face and also help remaining teeth move and drift from position.

Bridges are designed to last a lifetime, however if they are not looked after properly they may come loose or even fall out. If you have good oral hygiene and visit a dentist regularly you should avoid this happening. You are recommended to keep your gums and teeth healthy by using fluoride toothpaste and flossing regularly.

Your dentist may recommend avoiding chewing hard foods such as ice to prevent damage to your new dental bridge.

The cost of a dental bridge starts from around £450.

I don't normally leave reviews - but had to make an exception for this visit. I have to admit, I'm not the biggest fan of being a patient at the dentist. My past experiences at certain practices were more uncomfortable than I would have liked. Not that those in question were bad at working in the trade, it's just that I don't think they were quite as efficient. I visited Sheraz at the Kilmarnock Smile Studio after the recommendation from a friend, without a doubt he is now my dentist for life.

The results of my treatment were worth the cost
I was pleased with my treatment results
