Smartlipo

SmartLipo® is a laser treatment that has been proven to deliver effective results with minimal discomfort for the patient. The procedure has been tried and tested and is proven to remove excess fatty tissue which is stubborn and resistant to traditional lifestyle changes such as dieting and exercise.

A cannula of approximately 1 millimetre in diameter is inserted under the patient’s skin and directly into the excess fat. A laser inside of the cannula then works to destroy the fat cells in the body. It releases a liquid fat which is absorbed naturally by the body, easily and in little time.

SmartLipo® is carried out under local anaesthetic and takes place in sterile conditions. A special pencil is used to mark the areas to be treated with lines traced outwards from the central point where local anaesthetic is injected. The professional carrying out the treatment will wait until the area is totally anaesthetised by inserting the cannula under the skin in the very same place. The incision created for the anaesthetic injection and cannula is very small in size, in most cases it will heal without the need for stitches.
It is recommended that the patient take a brief rest before returning home. Patients are also instructed to wear a special garment which compresses the treated area. Two check-ups will also be needed after the procedure. One a week after the treatment to remove dressings, and the second four weeks after to make sure everything is still healthy.

In most cases there is little discomfort experienced after undergoing SmartLipo® treatment.

The very final results of SmartLipo® will be seen between 60-90 days after, but the patient’s appearance will improve gradually day-after-day after undergoing the treatment. The results of SmartLipo® are permanent. This is because the treatment fully dissolves the problem fatty cells, making them unable to reproduce. Any excess fat gained after the procedure will go to other, untreated areas of the body

Additional treatment for further reduction on the same area can be carried out, but this can only be done four months after the initial procedure. You can, however, undergo treatment for different areas two weeks after the initial SmartLipo®.

The cost varies dependent on the size of the area you wish to get treated. The procedure often starts from £1200, and any additional areas treated on the same day cost around £500 each.
