ReCell Spray on Skin can be used to treat a variety of skin defects, including burns, wounds and scars. The innovative technology enables patients to regenerate healthy skin using their own cells. A surgeon initially collects a small sample of the patient’s skin which is then reapplied to the treatment area in the form of a spray.
If preferred, a local anaesthetic option can be discussed with the doctor but the treatment is usually performed under general anaesthetic in an operating theatre.
To begin the ReCell Spray on Skin treatment, the surgeon will take a sample of your skin. This sample is only very small. They will choose skin from an area that is located close to the treatment site as this results in the new skin being the same texture and colour as that around it, helping it to blend in seamlessly with the non-treated area.
The skin that has been collected is then placed in a ReCell kit. This kit creates a mixture of cells that have been reactivated and are healthy through, in turn, isolating them and then reactivating them. The treatment area will be prepared by a surgeon and then the activated cells sprayed directly onto the region. The process encourages the cells to grow and migrate so they cover the whole of the treatment area to reconstruct new skin. The procedure usually takes around half an hour to complete.
The ReCell Spray on Skin treatment results in healthy, new skin growing where the procedure has taken place. It is effective at covering both blemishes and burns or scars.
The treatment allows for the regeneration of an entirely new sheet of skin, resulting in healthy looking skin developing. The skin that grows because of ReCell Spray on Skin is both unblemished and healthy and is grown over a wound using skin cells from the patient.
