Following graduation Robert spent 8 years in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery training positions.
He is recognised by the General Dental Council as a Specialist in Surgical Dentistry.

In 2000 he undertook the yearlong full-time MSc programme in Implant Dentistry at the prestigious Eastman Dental Hospital in London. This is currently the most comprehensive implant training that is available in the UK. Robert completed the MSc with Distinction in 2001.

Since 2003 Robert has been working an Associate Specialist in Dental Implantology at Cardiff Dental Hospital. This post involves complex implant treatment of patients who are born without adult teeth (hypodontia), post trauma and cancer patients.
The post also involves the teaching of dental implants London treatments to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Robert has helped set up dental implant teaching courses and bone grafting courses at the University of Wales. He continues to do this on a part-time basis. He has also been recently appointed as a Senior Lecturer / Honorary Consultant for the Warwick University Implant MSc course.

Robert has lectured nationally on the surgical aspects of dental Implantology. His particular area of interest is the reconstruction of missing bone and gum tissue as part of implant treatment. This involves bone grafting, guided bone regeneration and soft tissue grafting. This is aimed at improving the cosmetic results of dental implant treatment.

Robert keeps up to date with the latest techniques as a member of the Association of Dental Implantology and European Association for Osseointegration.
