Charles trained at University College London, qualifying in 1985.

He practiced in London and Suffolk before establishing his own practice in Cambridge in 1997. He moved to Fowey in 2011. He is a general dentist with a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry where he enjoys using his skills in implantology, Invisalign, composite and porcelain bonding. He is a full member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and a member of the Association of Dental Implantologists.
