Since training as a dental hygienist in the Royal Air Force in 1978 Carole has had the opportunity to develop her career and gain experience in a variety of roles within the dental profession.
Whilst serving in the RAF Carole became a tutor dental hygienist and was privileged to take the Queens Commission which gave her the opportunity to become the Officer in Charge of Dental Hygiene training for RAF.
Carole has worked in a Department of Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery, in general dental practice in both NHS and private settings, and also as a locum within the corporate structure.
She is a member and Honorary Secretary of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT) and a member of the British Society of Periodontology. She is currently chairperson of the Thames Valley Regional Group of the BSDHT and helps to organise meetings and further training and lectures on educational courses for other dental hygienists and student hygienists.
Carole regularly attends post qualification training in the UK and has travelled to New Orleans and Seattle to update her dental education from leaders in the field.
Carole is co-author of a book which was published in 2009 and when requested produces articles for publication in the dental press.
Whilst practicing all elements of prevention of tooth decay and gum disease, her special interest is working with individuals who are at high risk of developing or are suffering from periodontal disease (gum disease) and helping individuals to obtain and maintain good oral health.
Carole is also a key opinion leader for two dental companies, testing and commenting on the development of their new instruments and materials.
