Dr Derek Bingham

Derek graduated from Glasgow University in 2002 and came back home to work as a dental associate. In 2007 Derek bought over the building and its patients and opened Moira Cosmetic Dental. With a strong vision and passion for the high quality dentistry that he wanted to provide and the high standards of service he wanted to achieve Derek set about making improvements to the building, the technology, his own professional development and the training and development of the team

Derek is always striving for excellence and determined to offer his patients the best options for their dental health. Derek is diligent and meticulous in his treatment of patients, the running of Moira Cosmetic Dental and his continued professional development.

Derek completed a certificate in dental implantology and has been placing dental implants since 2006. He is a member of the Association of Dental Implants and International Team of Implantolgy, attending regular study clubs and events. Derek has a strong interest in treating nervous patients and has been providing IV sedation since 2004, he enjoys the sense of achievement that both he and the patients feel when they are able to receive dental treatment that they would otherwise avoid. Derek is a member of the Society for the Advancement of Anthesia in Dentistry and is also a Dental Phobia Certified Provider.

Since 2007 Derek has had a special interest in providing cosmetic orthodontic treatments, particularly for adult patients. He is a certified provider of Invisalign ®, he has completed both basic and advanced training in Six Month Smiles ® he is also an Inman Aligner ® registered provider and most recently has introduced lingual braces to the practice, he has just completed a 9 day advanced orthodontic course. Derek feels passionate about the place that cosmetic braces have in modern dentistry and is a member if the European Society of Aesthetic Orthodontics. Derek wants to encourage his patients to improve their smiles using minimal invasive techniques and particular enjoys completing cases were he also gets to use his vast array of cosmetic skills and knowledge.

Derek has completed two one year courses in cosmetic dentistry, the first in 2007 with Howard Stean and most recently the well esteemed Christopher Orr year long Aesthetic course in 2012. Derek is a Full Member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and has completed specific cosmetic courses to attain this title, Derek is a regular attender at BACD study clubs. In October 2014 Derek began an 18 Month training course with Tidu Mankoo on the topic of restorative dentistry.

This course is organized by the IAAD of which Derek is also a member. Derek is married to Naomi and they live locally with their daughter Bethany. Outside of work Derek is a massive Ireland and Ulster rugby fan.
