A former smoker asks Dr Vincent Wong:
After 20 years of smoking (I have now given up) I have prominent smoking lines from my nose to my mouth, what would you suggest is the best treatment for this?
Thank you for the question. I would suggest a combination of dermal filler and botulinum toxin injections to plump up the lines and relax the contributing muscles. In addition, microneedling with radiofrequency (e.g. INTRAcel) would be extremely beneficial in stimulating collagen production in the area, as well as improving the skin texture and tightening the skin. Topically, application of skin products containing epidermal growth factors will also help.
Hope this helps!
