Cfast stands for ‘Cosmetically Focused Adult Straight Teeth’ and is an orthodontic system designed to discreetly and quickly straighten teeth. You can choose from a range of options including tooth coloured fixed braces on the front of the teeth, lingual braces which are hidden behind your teeth, or clear removable aligners. Treatment is focused on just the front six teeth that show when you talk and smile.
The main benefit of Cfast is that the treatment time is very fast, typically treatment is just 6 months. The treatment time is so fast as it is concentrated on just the front six teeth that show when you smile. If you choose the lingual braces or clear aligners then it can also be invisible.
To carry out Cfast your dentist must first undertake specific training.
While wearing your Cfast braces you will need to see your dentist about once a month to check your progress and make adjustments.
Cfast braces can be discreet or even completely invisible. There are a range of options for you to choose from which will be explained at your consultation. You may opt for tooth coloured, discreet braces on the front of your teeth. If you prefer to have less visible braces then lingual braces fixed behind your teeth, or clear removable aligners might be more suitable for you.
With any kind of braces there will be some initial discomfort as you get used to wearing them.
Any braces will affect your speech for the first few days as you get used to wearing them. Lingual braces and clear aligners can take a bit longer to adapt to as they interfere with the position of the tongue.
With any kind of fixed braces you will need to be careful with your diet to avoid damage to your teeth or the braces during treatment. This includes avoiding very hard or very sticky foods. It is also advisable to limit the amount of sugar and fizzy drinks. If you choose the clear aligner option, these braces can be removed to eat so there is less restriction on your diet.
After any kind of brace treatment it is very important to wear retainers, without these your teeth can move out of line again. Both fixed and removable retainers are advised after your Cfast treatment.
