miraDry®

miraDry® is a relatively fast procedure to help reduce underarm sweat – taking between one and one and a half hours - it is FDA cleared. Performed in a medical clinic, it is non-invasive that works by delivering specific and controlled electromagnetic energy into the underarm sweat glands, thus eliminating the glands and resulting in reduced perspiration.

The sweat glands themselves are numbed prior to the procedure to cut down on time taken and for patient comfort. The miraDry® device delivers controlled electromagnetic energy to the sweat glands, heating up the glands and eliminating them for good.

The procedure takes around sixty minutes, but this does depend on the degree of sweat and/or odour problem experienced. One treatment is sometimes enough, but usually a second treatment is needed to make sure sweat and odour is reduced as much as possible.

Usually, the results are immediate, with most patients describing a significant sweat reduction – in a recent study patients reported an 82 per cent reduction.

Two procedures are recommended in general. These should be undertaken three months apart in order to maximise both the quality and the duration of results. miraDry® is also the only FDA cleared procedure to provide a long-lasting reduction of sweat production under the arms in a wholly non-invasive way.
