Latisse® is the first and only FDA-approved treatment that is used to stimulate eyelash growth for those who do not have enough lashes, or are unhappy with the fullness of their eyelashes.
Latisse® procedure has been proven to reverse the decline in lash growth and is ideal for anyone who desires fuller, longer or thicker eyelashes. The treatment’s active ingredient has been previously used to treat glaucoma however, it is now known to also enhance eyelash growth.
Latisse® takes a twin approach to helping patients enjoy fuller, thicker eyelashes. It both increases the length of time eyelashes are in the growth phase and raises the number of eyelashes in the phase at any one time.
Latisse® lengthens, thickens and darkens formerly sparse lashes to give more fluttery peepers. Made by the creators of the anti-wrinkle injection, Botox® Latisse® should be applied along the lash-line of the upper eyelid once a day. It is important that Latisse® is only applied with the sterile applicators that are included with the product and they are not re-used.
Patients usually notice fuller, longer and darker lashes in as little as eight weeks, however it can take around 16 weeks for full results to be seen. It is important to note however that results are not permanent; once Latisse® applications stop, eyelashes will gradually return to their previous sparse state.
Latisse® has a number of possible side-effects including a temporary darkening of the skin on the eyelid area and a brown-coloured, permanent pigmentation of the iris.
