What can Botox be used for?
Botox has been clinically proven to erase or reduce many cosmetic and medical problems. Aside from temporarily erasing and reducing horizontal forehead lines, crow's feet and vertical frown lines, Botox can be used to treat migraines, aid in excess sweating and bladder control. There is a difference between cosmetic and medical Botox. The purified toxins in cosmetic Botox can also lift the corners of the mouth that sag with age, soften smoker's lines and smooth out the 'pin cushion' look on chins.
How will I feel after Botox?
Botox does not effect the nerves that cause sensation so you will have all the feeling in your treated area. When used correctly, it will lift your problem area in an appealing and sincere manner. To do this your practitioner can judge the size of your muscles and how much Botox you will need.
Does Botox hurt?
Similar to any normal injections, Botox can be slightly painful and uncomfortable, especially between the eyebrows. Dependant on your treatment area, some doctors will offer an anaesthesia ten minutes before the procedure to numb it.
What are the side effects of Botox?
Like any procedure, Botox can come with side effects. This will depend on how your body reacts to the drug. However, as this is a temporary procedure, these are minor and very short lived. 1%-5% of cases have been reported to find mild droopiness on the eyelid or eyebrow or slight bruising in treatment areas. These side effects tend to go away within two weeks.
When does Botox start to work and how long will it last?
Even though most patients tend to see instant changes in their problem areas, the final results of Botox start to appear within three to ten days. Over time the treated muscles regain their action but this takes between three to five months. When these lines do start to reappear, a repeat treatment should be carried out to maintain desired results.
