Halfway through treatment - Invisalign winners story

Whoa, we’re half way there…

Happy New Year to you all!

I’ve just got home from the dentist as I had an evening appointment this time round so thought I’d write a quick update before I head to the land of nod.

Alfonso is really pleased with the progress of my treatment thus far and I’m now officially HALF WAY through… I cannot actually believe how fast the time has gone since I received my 1st set of aligners… I’m now on my 7th set!! I’ve never much loved numbers but I’m a huge fan of these ones!

Again one of my lower attachments had made a disappearing act, but it was replaced quickly and with ease. I’m hoping it’s going to stay put this time round! Fingers crossed.

My 7th set of aligners feel the tightest yet (I think they mean business) but they don’t hurt. I have also been given my 8th set to change over to in 2 weeks time.

I’ll next be heading back to the practice on Monday 5th February to change over to my 9th set of aligners and will update you then.

Take it steady!

No pain no gain, right?…
Hi everyone.

I wasn’t planning on writing another blog post until I returned to the dentist to receive my 9th set of aligners however, I feel I should update you on my 8th set.

I always do the changeover before I go to bed so that if the aligners cause me any discomfort, I can sleep through it. When placing the 8th set on my teeth last night, the bottom set felt tighter than the 7th set (always a good sign) but not at all painful, the top set on the other hand felt extremely tight and initially hurt a fair bit but I decided it was bearable and once I’d fallen asleep, it wouldn’t effect me.

Oh how wrong I was!

I woke up in the middle of the night in complete agony. My initial response to the pain was to remove the top set of aligners and grab a mirror. I was taken aback by what I saw. My right maxillary lateral incisor was the cause for all the pain and had moved backwards, so much so that my right central incisor now looks almost worse than it did before I started my treatment.

The pain has eased slightly thanks to pain killers but I haven’t managed to eat anything yet today and I am absolutely starving. I’ve just sent an e-mail to my dentist asking if it should be this painful and if it definitely should have moved back so far!? I’m sure it is meant to as that’s what the aligners show, as you can see in this picture:

I am just so paranoid as my front teeth were starting to look really straight when using the 7th set of aligners and now on the 8th set look like they’ve taken a ginormous step back.

Here’s a picture which kind of shows you what I’m talking about, though doesn’t look half as bad as it does in person.

Hopefully I’ll hear back from my dentist soon and have my mind put at ease. I will update this post with what they say.

Thanks for reading.

***UPDATE #1*** Within just 20 minutes of contacting my dentist via e-mail, I received a phone call from the practice receptionist asking how I was doing and offering me an appointment at 4:55pm which I gratefully accepted. I attended my appointment and Alfonso checked the aligners for me. He thinks the reason they have been causing me so much pain may be simply because the teeth hadn’t quite moved fully with my last set of aligners and advised me to continue taking painkillers when necessary and if the pain hasn’t subsided in a couple of days, to contact him again.

***UPDATE #2*** It’s now been a couple of days and I can happily say that I am no longer in any pain! My next dentist appointment will be on 5th of February and I will update you all again then!
